Club Service

This area of service promotes the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service. It involves the activities necessary to make the Club function successfully and achieve its goals.

During the Rotary year, which starts on 1st July, there are several events within the club which need organising. The two main ones are the Charter Evening and the President’s Evening.

The Charter Evening is the anniversary of the club being granted a charter i. e. the club’s birthday. The President’s Evening is a social occasion usually involving a formal dinner, often with entertainment and dancing, to which the member’s partners are invited. Of late the partners have also been invited to the Charter evening. To both events invitations are extended to other clubs and to District officers.

The job of organising these events falls on our Club service chairman.

Also during the year some of our members may attend district and national Rotary conferences. Whilst Rotary business is the prime purpose these are also wonderful social occasions. The job of arranging our attendance, which mainly involves the booking of the hotel, aso falls on our Club Service chairman.

On this page are photographs taken at some of the events.

For the 2014 President's Evening, AnnE decided on a change of format and we had an informal evening with a barn dance, folk music and hot buffet food at Sandal Farm to which we invited not only partners and other clubs, but also non-rotarian friends.
